Fast computation of generic bivariate resultants

We prove that the resultant of two “sufficiently generic” bivariate polynomials over a finite field can be computed in quasi-linear expected time, using a randomized algorithm of Las Vegas type. A similar complexity bound is proved for the computation of the lexicographical Gröbner basis for the ideal generated by the two polynomials.

We use extension theory and algebraic methods to give a complete characterization of extensions of torus algebra by stable Cuntz algebras,and prove certain classification theorems of these extension algebras.     

Alternative routes to equivalent classical models of a quantum system

<正>Coarse-graining of some sort is a fundamental and unavoidable step in any attempt to derive the classical mechanical behavior from the quantum formalism.We utilize the two-mode Bose-Hubbard model to illustrate how different coarse-grained systems can be naturally associated with a fixed quantum system if it is compatible with different dynamical algebras.Alternative coarse-grained systems generate different evolutions of the same physical quantities,and the difference becomes negligible only in the appropriate macro-limit.     

A Brylinski filtration for affine Kac–Moody algebras

Braverman and Finkelberg have recently proposed a conjectural analogue of the geometric Satake isomorphism for untwisted affine Kac–Moody groups. As part of their model, they conjecture that (at dominant weights) Lusztig's q-analog of weight multiplicity is equal to the Poincare series of the principal nilpotent filtration of the weight space, as occurs in the finite-dimensional case. We show that the conjectured equality holds for all affine Kac–Moody algebras if the principal nilpotent filtration is replaced by the principal Heisenberg filtration. The main body of the proof is a Lie algebra cohomology vanishing result. We also give an example to show that the Poincare series of the principal nilpotent filtration is not always equal to the q-analog of weight multiplicity. Finally, we give some partial results for indefinite Kac–Moody algebras.
